Emporia Church of Christ Programs and Activities

There are a number of ministries in which our members and our Congregation are actively involved.   There is a place for everyone to serve.   Here a  few of the ministries at the Emporia Church of Christ.

Educational Ministry:  Bible Studies are offered for all ages on Sunday and Wednesday each week.  There are a wide variety of classes from topical issues to textual studies.  Additionally there is a monthly Thursday evening ladies Bible class.

Vacation Bible School:  Each summer a vacation Bible School is hosted by the congregation.

Campus Ministry:  Our congregation has a Christian Student Center at 1503 Merchant Street to serve as an outreach of students at Emporia State University.  The Campus Minister organizes programs for our college students and teaches their classes.   Attending students are individually hosted by a family through an 'Adopt a Student' program.

Assembly Ministry:  This includes the organization of the services, selection of participants, preparing communion, and special services.

Benevolence Ministry:  We continually have opportunities to serve others.  It includes maintaining a fund to provide grocery cards to deserving persons and reacting to clothing and household needs of others out of a deep love of serving people in the community or traveling.

Community Outreach:  Thanksgiving week is busy as volunteers deliver food baskets on Tuesday and then on Thanksgiving day they cook turkeys with all the trimmings to serve hot meals at the building and deliver hot meals to deserving families in the community.   There are Fall activities to distribute candy to children of the community on special occasions.   There is an elementary school supplies program at the beginning of the fall semester.  Lap Blanket stitching sessions are also held.

Facilities Ministry:  This takes many volunteers to make repairs, remove snow, change light bulbs and maintain the auditorium before each service.  It also includes maintenance of the Christian Student Center.

Fellowship Ministry:     We love being together for fellowship events.    Everyone has the opportunity to serve with one of four groups each quarter to share in preparing hot meals for their group, visitors, seniors and college students on the first four Sundays of each month.  There are also other events year around, such as, congregational meals at the building on any fifth Sunday as well as Singing for individuals and groups, kids preparing items for delivery to others, Valentines parties, X-mas Parties, New Year Parties, Tail Gate Parties at ESU home football games and showers and many other events.

Friday Food Feast at the Student Center:  Each Friday through the fall and spring semesters, families of the congregation, two each Friday, provide food for the students at the Christian Student Center to be served between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

World Bible School:  Members at Emporia teach Bible Correspondence Courses with interested people from several continents through the World Bible School Program.
